An experienced entrepreneur and leader, before Akras, Charlie founded and operated three businesses in the travel and marketing industries in the United States and Europe. His last venture was based in Italy, where he lived and operated it for 4 years. With deep experience working with startup and growth ventures as both a founder and consultant, he brings the necessary tools, structures and strategy to Akras that keep the company innovative, competitive and rooted in systems and processes.
He has also held several Director-level positions in large and respected US and Europe-based corporations, including EF Education First, Hillstone Restaurant Group and The Ritz-Carlton.
Charlie studied International Business Management and Marketing at the top ranked D’Amore-Mckim School of Business at Northeastern University in Boston. He is still engaged as a pro-bono consultant with its in-house Venture Accelerator, IDEA. As a member of IDEA and its Venture Mentor Network, he encourages and supports promising ventures started by students and alums.
While living in Boston, he also pursued continuing education in communication and leadership, completing the intensive, year-long Team Management and Leadership Program. Charlie is actively involved in the communities he resides, and serves as the local chapter leader for GoBundance, a Nationwide mens and women’s group that supports “healthy, wealthy men and women leading balanced and epic lives”.
An accomplished world traveler, Charlie has visited 55+ countries for work and adventure. Charlie’s family is of Norwegian heritage and he’s a passionate outdoorsman, fly fisherman and backcountry skier, living most of the year with his family in Boulder, Colorado with the Rocky Mountains in their backyard.
